Appreciate all the positive replies I’ve been getting in DMs and replies here from all of you.

I reply to most of you, but even if I don’t know I appreciate hearing it all.

A few updates from this week…

Cherriots is proposing a 0.7% employer payroll tax starting Jan. 1, 2026; employees wouldn’t be taxed, and the first year is projected to raise about $39M. The money would expand bus frequency and late-night/weekend hours, buy more buses, and build new transit centers in South and East Salem, with a projected 47% increase in service hours over five years.

Many business owners are pushing back on the cost and lack of a public vote, while Cherriots notes 59% of riders are commuting to work; the board is expected to vote this fall

Grocery Outlet is coming to South Salem. They announced on FB this week that they will be opening next door to Crazy Dough pizza on September 25. A lot of us are wondering where everyone will park though as that lot is already pretty full…

It's not IF your pipes will have problems. It's WHEN.

That 2 AM toilet overflow. The weekend water heater failure. The holiday kitchen sink backup. When plumbing disasters strike, you need someone you can trust – not whoever answers the phone first on Google.

"I can't afford regular plumbing maintenance..." You can't afford NOT to. One burst pipe costs more than years of preventive care.

15% off ALL services for 6 months

FREE whole-home plumbing inspection ($200 value)

“Flash Before The Bang” Films in Salem: A Deaf-Led Story of Triumph Hits the Track

Filming for Flash Before The Bang took place in Salem, Oregon this past week, with production set to continue across the state in the coming months. This film, created by Deaf filmmakers for mainstream audiences, is inspired by the true story of an all-Deaf high school track and field team and their Deaf coach at the Oregon School for the Deaf. Despite facing adversity and discrimination, the team defied the odds to achieve an unprecedented victory at the 1986 Oregon State Track & Field Championships.

With authentic Deaf representation both on and off screen, the film aims to spotlight resilience, teamwork, and the power of inclusion.
